Engineering

Start with a great design

Before you can talk about making a great electronic product, you need a design for one.

Let us help.

Pace engineers are industry experts who use DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) protocols to ensure that your design is optimized for efficient production from the start. Our goals are to minimize your cost and expedite your time-to-market without sacrificing quality.

Our Engineering Services

Electronic Design

Pace engineers can develop your product control system—whether it requires a simple analog or digital controller or a high-performance micro with custom interfaces and peripherals. Our design expertise extends to the power supply, battery charger and output driver circuits—including Triacs, SCRs, MOSFETs or bipolar transistors. In fact, one of our specialties is AC-line-powered microcontrollers.

Whether you have a specific microprocessor in mind or want to tap into our expertise to choose the ideal one for your product, we can provide a design optimized for your requirements using assembly or C/C++ language. All of our code is structured and self-documented. If required, we can provide flow charts or data-flow diagrams and deliver custom embedded firmware.

Our technology experience extends to inductive and direct-contact battery chargers, including NiCd, NiMH, Lithium Ion and Sealed Lead-Acid chemistries, sine-wave inverters, photo-controls, proximity sensing, small motor controls, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi transceivers, and a wide variety of custom microcontrollers, discrete logic or analog control systems.

Our product experience covers consumer, medical, industrial controls, automotive, emergency lighting/safety products and other high-tech industries.

Product Design and Development

The outward appearance of a product can lead to market success—or failure. To optimize your product’s aesthetics and structural elements, Pace engineering has aligned with a network of top-tier industrial designers and mechanical engineers.
Some products may require only 2D design, but most will require the 3D modeling, rendering or design capability offered by sophisticated software, such as Pro/ENGINEER®, Alias® or SolidWorks®.

After the controller design is complete and the schematic is captured, you’re ready for a PCB layout. To create them, we use leading CAD tools, like Altium®, PCAD® Allegro®, PADS® and CADSTAR®. We can either generate Gerber files for transmission to a PCB fabrication house or make simple changes to an existing Gerber file. Pace engineering can also provide very low-cost PCBs via our network of fabricators.

Value Engineering

Thanks to Pace’s depth of experience and engineering expertise, we can help significantly reduce your electronic assembly costs. At a minimum, we’ll find the least expensive components that meet your requirements, but we can also employ strategic redesign and reverse engineering to build alternative subassemblies that will dramatically reduce your per-unit assembly costs.

Our value engineering capabilities include:

Bill of material analysis

Electrical analysis
